Letter from the Director:
Belisama Irish Dance is having a BIG birthday! Rhythm of Fire 2026, celebrates twenty years of Irish dance in Santa Fe. Twenty years of creating community and choreography and dancing together. We are proud to have collaborated with dozens of bands and master artists in the realm of traditional and modern Irish dance and music, as hundreds of students have joined us on the dance floor over two decades. Some things remain constant- look out for some familiar choreography we have showcased since our inaugural show in 2007.
Performing arts cannot survive without all of YOU. Our audiences breathe life into what we love to create, a symbiosis of joy and entertainment. These dancers have spent countless hours practicing, and it all lands here on stage for you this weekend. Belisama is proud to be an inclusive community, you will see dancers of all ages and backgrounds. We are dedicated to excellent preservation and representation of the dance style we love so much. If you want to get up on stage, or just dance for fun we have new classes for beginners starting in April!
Another exciting chapter begins this year as Hannah McDowell branches off to nurture Kicks Dance Studio, with the early childhood dance program I have built over the past three years. We are excited to call Kicks our sister school, and as they expand contemporary dance in Santa Fe we look forward to more shows as a duo.
Belisama will be continuing as Santa Fe's premier Irish dance program with performance, competition and recreational opportinities. Our Performing Company is growing more professional by the year, and the 2026-2027 season has much to look forward to, we have booked a dozen shows with community partners, and keep an eye out for our bi-annual winter workshop and show: Rhythm in the Desert, where Nic Garreis and others return to share their incredible wealth of wisdom and dance with us.
Remember, Rhythm of Fire is a show to enjoy in all the ways...clap along, tap those toes, and infuse the dancers with your energy! Thank you for being here!
